John Dahlback @ Pacha NYC [EVENT REVIEW]

06/30/2012 - Gina Turner started off the gala at Pacha NYC around 10:00PM, a fresh change up from her usual early morning fiestas. GT has ben one of my favorite DJs since I saw her open for Tiesto in Asbury Park Convention Hall back in July 2010 and she just keeps getting better! She is the king of tech/minimal house and really knows how to read her audience whether she is opening, headlining, or closing. Gina Turner's performances always display how up she stays on the illest tracks out there and never forgets to customize the experience for every show. If you can identify all the songs GT plays… you are quite the talented ID'ing extraordinaire.

Gina Turner has BIG BIG plans for her new label Turn It Records:

Purchase "Giovanna" by Gina Turner w/ Van Toth Remix via Beatport

Giovanna (Van Toth Remix V2) by Gina Turner

John Dahlback entered the booth around 1:00AM just when Gina Turner dropped Giovanna (Van Toth Remix) and took hold of the crowd as it played out. With the prime set time Dahlback knew exactly what to do with his time; go ham or go home. It took little to no time for JD turned the crowd into a full fledge ragging pit. Playing a tasteful assortment of tracks including a very noteworthy track "Take This Thing Back" by John Dahlback that found its home at Chris Lake's label Rising Music as a present for it's 50th release. Along with releasing on numerous labels JD has his own label Mutant Records, head over to their Soundcloud to see what Dahlback has in his silo.

As John Dahlback's unrivaled showcase came to an end it was now Deniz Koyu's turn to close out New York City's legendary venue; Pa-cha! Deniz Koyu played a great set with plenty of variety and really is having one hell of a year. With so many great remixes AND productions… you can tell DK's spot in EDM is on lockdown. As his most recent release on Refune Records "Bong" ripped through Pacha NYC's top notch sound system almost everyone in the establishment busted a move, churning up a dance storm that could last forever, perpetual motion device. All together an amazing trifecta performance by all three artists. Can't wait for my next opportunity to attend of of their shows.

Norman Doray & Nervo @ Pacha NYC [EVENT REVIEW]

06/16/2012 - I arrived at Pacha NYC as some of the most beautiful talent in EDM took control of the booth. The Nervo Twins give off amazingly happy vibes with their perky personalities and flawless smiles but don't let that fool you… The Nervo Twins really know how to get down to business. Liv and Mim have accomplished some real cool stuff the ordinary fan wouldn't know like they began their career as songwriters with Sony/ATV Music Publishing writing songs for Kelly Rowland, Kesha, and the Pussycat Dolls and last year they toured with Brittany Spears. With pop connections like that and teaming up with Afrojack, Avicii, Dimitri Vegas  & Like Mike on other projects, these gals are versatile enough to do it up REAL big. The girls played a highly amusing set including tracks from Sandro Silva, Marco V, and Tiesto along with productions of their own.

I Love You So (Acapella) w/ Zero 76 by Tiesto

After Nervo turned the crowd topsy turvy it was now Norman Doray's turn. He grabbed hold of the decks in the early hours of Friday morning and got it cooking like clockwork. Tommy Trash & PeaceTreaty made an appearance after their performance with Laidback Luke at his Super You & Me Governors Island party. Bringing the crowd right into full rage mode. This was the first stop of Norman Doray's USA Tour and really show cased how radical the rest of his stops will be. Norman has been a round for a good period of time playing beside Swedish House Mafia at Pacha Ibiza almost every monday and played a big support role on Steve Angello's "Size Matters" tour. It's cool to see a guys like this working really hard headlining big venues. He played a wide variety of music including some of his own brand spanking new material.

Benny Benassi @ Governors Island [EVENT PREVIEW]

Benny Benassi is the epitome of veteran in the EDM industry. "Satisfaction" surfaced circa 2002 on his first album "Hypnotica"  (before most of today's DJs stepped onto the scene) and raised the bar up on electronic music forever. But no he didn't stop there, oh no no no,  following up his freshman album with another 4 incredible albums including Electroman (2011) making it abundantly clear that he is only  growing better and basically has it down to a secret science in which you couldn't even fathom what he has planned for 2012. Benassi has crafted his skills far beyond an artisan level in the past 12 years in his tech house game with performances that are detrimental to your hearing, no joke. I was graced with the opportunity to video graph the master hard at work at Lavo NYC back in February 2012 and was left in awe after his immaculate performance. Working with Madonna, Chris Brown, and T-Pain, (to name a few you know) Benassi's support is known to bring the heat. So on June 09, 2012 at Governor's Island he will be spinning with a few artists who have taken it to the HOUSE this past few months: Hardwell, Bingo Players, and DallasK.  At a beautiful outdoor venue like this? With a guaranteed amazing performance like that? During the summer? With a promotional company like Made Event behind it? Psh, you know you can't miss it.

The event runs from 4:00pm till 12:00am and is an 18+ event.

ADVANCE tickets are still available at madeevent.com so pick them up before they sell out!

Porter Robinson @ Lavo NYC [EVENT REVIEW]

04/19/2012 - There are few artists in electronic dance music today who really know how to cater to their audience and Porter Robinson is definitely one of them. He begun his performance keeping a nice and steady pace gradually bringing the crowd up to his level, something they couldn't bring themselves to before Porter grabbed hold of the 1's and 2's. Then dove head first into his electro house genre, exactly like it should be done. He sifted his way through a ginormous assortment of bangers such as Dada Life's brand new anthem "Rolling Stones T-Shirt", colleague Zedd's "Save The World" remix, Autoerotique's "Turn Up The Volume" and almighty banger from Avicii… "Levels". Porter Robinson truly went in on Lavo NYC with such a great selection the crowd couldn't help but love it, there was something in his set for every kind of EDM enthusiast. Only 19 years old (what may feel like an eternity away from his first legal drink) and he had patrons of one of the finest establishments in New York City flowing with drinks and rocking off the hinges until damn near dawn. Absolutely amazing.
