06/30/2012 - Gina Turner started off the gala at Pacha NYC around 10:00PM, a fresh change up from her usual early morning fiestas. GT has ben one of my favorite DJs since I saw her open for Tiesto in Asbury Park Convention Hall back in July 2010 and she just keeps getting better! She is the king of tech/minimal house and really knows how to read her audience whether she is opening, headlining, or closing. Gina Turner's performances always display how up she stays on the illest tracks out there and never forgets to customize the experience for every show. If you can identify all the songs GT plays… you are quite the talented ID'ing extraordinaire.
Gina Turner has BIG BIG plans for her new label Turn It Records:
Purchase "Giovanna" by Gina Turner w/ Van Toth Remix via Beatport
Giovanna (Van Toth Remix V2) by Gina Turner
John Dahlback entered the booth around 1:00AM just when Gina Turner dropped Giovanna (Van Toth Remix) and took hold of the crowd as it played out. With the prime set time Dahlback knew exactly what to do with his time; go ham or go home. It took little to no time for JD turned the crowd into a full fledge ragging pit. Playing a tasteful assortment of tracks including a very noteworthy track "Take This Thing Back" by John Dahlback that found its home at Chris Lake's label Rising Music as a present for it's 50th release. Along with releasing on numerous labels JD has his own label Mutant Records, head over to their Soundcloud to see what Dahlback has in his silo.
As John Dahlback's unrivaled showcase came to an end it was now Deniz Koyu's turn to close out New York City's legendary venue; Pa-cha! Deniz Koyu played a great set with plenty of variety and really is having one hell of a year. With so many great remixes AND productions… you can tell DK's spot in EDM is on lockdown. As his most recent release on Refune Records "Bong" ripped through Pacha NYC's top notch sound system almost everyone in the establishment busted a move, churning up a dance storm that could last forever, perpetual motion device. All together an amazing trifecta performance by all three artists. Can't wait for my next opportunity to attend of of their shows.
